The Movie

Made for the NRB Convention's Pitch-a-Thon in 2018, this story blends comedy, drama, and redemption into a narrative made for the screen. I’m seeking passionate collaborators — writers, filmmakers, and visionaries — to help develop it into a feature film or television series. First presented at the NRB Convention’s Pitch-a-Thon in February 2018.

The events in this story are largely factual, though the group’s collective “groupthink” often strayed into delusion. Nora’s fantasy scenes are dramatized for effect. Zelma documented everything — 76 cassette tapes of Dawa’s (our guru’s) workshops, 70 notebooks of channeled material, space-travel costumes, over 100 drawings, a thirty-foot mural of the Mothership, 54 original songs, photos, bylaws, a channeled book, and New Age newsletters.

The Story

Zeah, a young and impressionable bride, marries Joe, an older hippie, and embraces his new-age lifestyle. Immersed in his world of spirit guides and celestial beings, she soon develops her own vivid fantasies and begins channeling a spirit guide named Commander Masser, who promises to take her and Joe on a galactic voyage. Zeah becomes consumed by channeling and creating large artworks of spacecraft, neglecting her household duties as the family sinks deeper into alternate realities. Only the three children seem to maintain a grip on reality. Ultimately, Zeah undergoes a remarkable transformation, leaving the new age behind and turning to Christianity.

Cloud Paper and Vine sculptures

Mothership UFO Art

In this collection of Mothership UFO Art,  Zelma Loseke demonstrates the use of geometry, motion, and organic life. Loseke demonstrates her ability to show otherworldly architecture and celestial bodies. This six piece collection utilizes her fine art skills featuring spacial illusion, dimension, and geometric composition and is anchored in Zelma's vision for her 'mothership' where intuition, design, and curiosity are combined.

Mothership Painting

The Mothership Painting, features an abstract cosmic scene contrasting the bright white lights with a rich star speckled navy blue background. Loseke's use of soft gradient evokes a sense of scale and vastness within the painting.

Mothership - Comic Strip

Zelma Loseke's comic strip Mothership surrounds Joel and Nora a newly wed couple who join a hippie commune and later have interactions with extraterrestrials. This 60s themed comic mixes Zelma's spirit with satire, utopia, and psychological tension to create a memorable and creative story.
